Manufactured by Motive Power Inc (MPI), the MP36PH is a commuter service locomotive that is utilized by regional transit agencies all across the United States and Canada. In Chicago, IL, these distinct locomotives operate on Metra train lines in push-pull service, running hourly commuter bi-level trains in and out of the downtown stations to serve the approximately 300,000 daily riders that use it to go to and from the surrounding suburbs.

- The MP36PH locomotive uses a sophisticated light piping and LED system to give it directional headlight and taillight functions across all six of its nose lights, as well as illuminated pre-printed number boards for push/pull operation.
- Locomotive’s heavy duty five-pole motor and mechanism designed to pull a 10-car bi-level consist up a 4% grade without the need for a traction tire.
- Drop in DCC compatible with the Train Control Systems K4D6.
